Thriving Nations Conference

October 27th-28th, 2017
Tigh-na-mara Resort, Parksville, BC

Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council (NmTC) and the NEDC are partnering to deliver the Thriving Nations Aboriginal Governance Conference on October 27th and 28th, 2017, at Tigh-na-mara Resort in Parksville, BC. The event will feature expert speakers and experienced panelists exploring best practices in First Nation governance.

Keynote speaker Dr. Manley Begay will share his research on Nation Building. This will include an exploration of the key aspects of building strong and sustainable nations in an effort to answer the question, “What explains the success that some First Nations have had building sustainable, self-determined economies?”.

Throughout the conference, indigenous presenters and panelists will take us deeper into the sections of Nation Building shared by Dr. Begay, including Leadership, Business, Community Strategy, Community Engagement, and more. Day One will conclude with the NEDC Business Awards Gala on Friday evening, where Aboriginal businesses from our region will be recognized.

Participants from NmTC member nations are eligible for a registration subsidy.
