Environmental Learning Regime (ELR) Workshop 2014
Your First Nation is invited to send up to two participants to attend a two-day Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada sponsored Environmental Learning Regime for First Nations workshop. The Environmental Learning Regime is an initiative designed to increase environmental awareness and build on the skills within First Nations to achieve sustainable development while protecting the health and safety of First Nation communities and the environmental integrity of their lands and resources.
Workshop Objectives
Topic to be discussed include:

Known environmental management issues on Reserve lands and key departmental priorities,

Available environmental management tools, processes and best practices for environmental impact assessment, contaminated sites assessment, environmental auditing, environmental planning;

Applicable environmental law regimes on Reserve lands, e.g., Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, the Species at Risk Act, the Navigable Waters Act, the Migratory Birds Act and the Fisheries Act etc.;

Other topics including Oil and Gas and Waste Management.
Who should attend?
Up to two (2) representatives from your community are invited to attend. Attendance is limited to 25 participants per workshop so please ensure that you have registered for the workshop nearest your community.

Accommodations:
Hotel information will be included in your confirmation email once you register.
Accomodation (as required) for up to two nights will be reimbursed at rates set out under Treasury Board Guidelines and with a completed travel claim
Expenses:
Meals, transportation and accommodation (as required) for up to two nights will be reimbursed at rates set out under Treasury Board Guidelines and with a completed travel claim.
Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council is handling the administration of this workshop. All travel expenses MUST be pre-approved at the time of registration using the attached Participant Travel Approval Request.
Also advise if there are any special circumstances that may require the participant to incur additional costs such as an additional night’s accommodation. Costs beyond those set out in the attachments will not be reimbursed without prior notification and agreement.
You must attend the entire Environmental Learning Regime for First Nations workshop in order to be reimbursed for you travel expenses.
Please be sure to save original receipts for hotel and travel and submit them with a completed Travel Claim form that will be supplied at the workshop. Note that the travel claim must be submitted within 21 days of the end of the training session or it will not be paid.
